"If you want the victims of gun crime to be able to sue the gun makers for damages, then let us also allow the victims of drunk driving accidents to sue the car makers and distilleries as well. While we are at it, revoke the special protection granted to vaccine makers that was passed as part of the Homeland Security Act so that people who are actually harmed by poorly made vaccines can sue the pharmaceutical companies. And, given that at least 90% of these mass shootings were committed by people either on or withdrawing from prescription anti-depressants, the victims of those shootings should be allowed to sue the pharmaceutical companies as well. Let's sue the makers of kitchen cutlery for every stabbing death. Let's sue the makers of sporting equipment for every victim beaten to death with a baseball bat, and tool companies for making the hammers used on bludgeoning deaths as well. The family of everyone who dies by electrocution should be allowed to sue the electric company. The family of everyone who dies in a fall should be allowed to sue the makers of ladders and staircases. The family of everyone who commits suicide by hanging should be allowed to sue the rope companies. " -- Michael Rivero

Orange juice futures in New York surged to new record highs on Friday morning, with prices squeezing over 30% in just a few short weeks. The latest price jump comes as citrus crop troubles across Brazil and the US continue to worsen global supply fears

The price of orange juice futures has soared to records, adding strain for consumers of the staple breakfast beverage. Citrus-crop woes in Brazil and the US are helping to fuel the relentless surge higher. Brazil is expected to see its worst orange harvest in 36 years, which will have a dramatic impact on global juice supplies — the South American nation accounts for about 70% of total exports of the beverage. In the US, Florida's orange groves have also suffered from decades of damage from disease and weather, putting limits on supplies from the top US juice producer. -Bloomberg

According to Bloomberg data, OJ prices rose 10 cents, or 2.14%, to $4.765/lb, the exchange limit. Prices are in blue-sky breakout territory.

The Supreme Court on Thursday rejected the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People’s (NACP) attempts to redraw South Carolina’s congressional districts to flip a Republican seat to Democrats.

Rep. Nancy Mace (R) currently holds a competitive seat in South Carolina, District 1. The NAACP sued alleging that the current map is racial gerrymandering that violates the Constitution’s Fourteenth Amendment. The court rejected the Democrats’ arguments by a six-to-three vote.

Justice Samuel Alito wrote for the majority:

The Constitution entrusts state legislatures with the primary responsibility for drawing congressional districts, and redistricting is an inescapably political enterprise. Legislators are almost always aware of the political ramifications of the maps they adopt, and claims that a map is unconstitutional because it was drawn to achieve a partisan end are not justiciable in federal court.

Major pharmaceuticals had a fantastic week in the global markets amid speculation that they may be ready to develop a vaccine to treat bird flu.

As fears grow around the world over the risk of another pandemic following the detection of avian bird flu in humans, pharmaceutical companies are benefitting from talk that they may be ready to develop another vaccine to stop another pandemic in its tracks.

Governor Ron DeSantis announced that from Memorial Day through Labor Day, Florida’s Sunshine Skyway Bridge will be lit in patriotic red, white, and blue. Thus, the practice of lighting it for a handful of other events, including a week in June for LGBT “Pride” Month, will end.

The bridge serves as a gateway to Tampa Bay.

Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Jared Perdue announced the “Freedom Summer” illumination plan on X.

“As Floridians prepare for Freedom Summer, Florida’s bridges will follow suit, illuminating in red, white, and blue from Memorial Day through Labor Day! Thanks to the leadership of @GovRonDeSantis, Florida continues to be the freest state in the nation.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said the United Nations’s International Court of Justice (ICJ) "can go to hell" after the body ordered Israel to halt its military operations in southern Gaza.

"As far as I’m concerned, the ICJ can go to hell," he wrote Friday on X. "It is long past time to stand up to these so-called international justice organizations associated with the UN."

"The ICJ’s ruling that Israel should stop operations that are necessary to destroy four battalions of Hamas killers and terrorists – who use Palestinians as human shields – is ridiculous," he added. "This will and should be ignored by Israel."

After posting a devastating (tee hee) $77 million loss in 2023, the disgraced and doomed Washington Post is about to turn to artificial intelligence (AI).

I love this story so much I’ve asked it to gay-marry me…

Washington Post CEO and publisher Will Lewis “told Post staffers today that the newspaper will be looking for ways to use AI in its reporting as it seeks to recoup some of the $77 million it lost last year,” reports Futurism.

“To speak candidly: We are in a hole, and we have been for some time,” the CEO added. “This is all repairable, all doable, particularly if we do it together.”

The far-left Post’s technology officer told everyone to expect “AI everywhere in our newsroom.”

In other words, the Post is about to replace a bunch of overpaid assholes with bots.

Webmaster addition: The problem is that AI bots can have bias programmed into them. I use ChatGPT and for things like science, history, and so on it's very good. But when asked a political question about current events it shows a clear liberal bias! Garbage in, garbage out!

Former President Donald Trump took aim at “radical left pro-crime policies,” including cashless bail, that have “destroyed” New York City while speaking at his hometown rally in the Bronx on Thursday.

“Vey sadly, in recent years, we have also seen our city destroyed by bad radical left pro-crime policy that virtually everyone – Republican, Democrat, Independent, everyone – you all know it’s a disaster,” Trump said.

A new campaign commercial from Joe Biden — narrated by Hollywood star Robert De Niro — revives the left’s Trump “bloodbath” hoax. The 30-second ad features a clip of former President Donald Trump saying, “If I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath.”

The commercial  displays the word “Bloodbath” in large font over the clip.

Verdict: Misleading and false.

The clip, which is from a March rally in Ohio, is taken out of context. Trump was using the word “bloodbath” to refer to the U.S. auto industry as well as the overall economy if he is not elected in November.

Despite numerous news outlets having called out the hoax, Biden has persisted in pushing the smear in an effort to manipulate voters into thinking that Trump was calling for physical violence.

NATO General Secretary Jens Stoltenberg has given Ukraine the greenlight to use Western weapons to hit Russian territory.

Speaking on Saturday, he reportedly said: "This is Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine. Ukraine has the right to defend itself.

"This includes strikes on targets in Russia."

His comments after two years of the war in Ukraine where the West has explicitly warned Kyiv not to use its weapons to strike Russia.

However, the New York Times reported this week that US State Department officials are mulling the idea of releasing these restrictions on Ukraine.

Over 40 Democratic mayors and county officials have demanded that Joe Biden give jobs and work permits to migrants who have entered the U.S. illegally, claiming that new arrivals will add a staggering $7 trillion to the economy over the next decade.

In a letter signed by the likes of New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and San Francisco Mayor London Breed, the Democrats plead with Biden to force the Department of Homeland Security to “leverage its authority to grant parole for longterm undocumented immigrants and our most recent arrivals to create a process for streamlined work authorization.”

Republican Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana recently penned an opinion column critical of transgender athletes. However, USA Today-owned newspapers removed the article without notifying Kennedy.

This incident echoes a similar situation from 2020 when Republican Senator Tom Cotton’s op-ed in the New York Times was censored. The piece, which proposed using the military to control the riots during the “summer of love,” sparked outrage among the paper’s staff.

Isn’t it fascinating that this kind of censorship always seems to happen in just one direction?

As if Israel’s legal and diplomatic woes weren’t dire enough, this afternoon in The Hague, the International Court of Justice ordered it to suspend its military operations in Rafah, to open the Rafah crossing to humanitarian aid, and to allow international observers into Gaza to ensure that evidence of Israeli genocide is not destroyed.

Today’s landmark ICJ “provisional measures” order is the Court’s response to South Africa’s May 10 application.

The situation in Gaza — and in Rafah particularly — couldn’t be more urgent, South Africa told the top UN court in its application, triggering two days of hearings. South Africa presented on Thursday, May 16.

“The onslaught on the Palestinians in Gaza is of a nature that can only be intended to result in the genocidal destruction of that group,” South Africa’s application stated. “In attacking Rafah, Israel is attacking the ‘last refuge’ in Gaza, and the only remaining area of the Strip which has not yet been substantially destroyed by Israel. With Rafah’s destruction, the destruction of Gaza itself will be complete.”

House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and Ranking Member Frank Pallone (D-NJ) have released the Section 230 Sunset Act, which would end Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act.

This bill would be a disaster for millions of interactive computer services, including websites, e-commerce stores, and other small businesses.

The legislation states, “This section shall have no force or effect after December 31, 2025.” In a May 12 Wall Street Journal op-ed, McMorris-Rodgers and Pallone instead propose creating an emergency that threatens to break the internet: “Big Tech [has] a choice: Work with Congress to ensure the internet is a safe, healthy place for good, or lose Section 230 protections entirely.” 1 And if an alternative could not be agreed upon by Congress, millions of websites, e-commerce stores, and other interactive computer services would be held liable for their user networks.

Let’s be clear about what is at stake. Section 230 protects platforms like eBay, YouTube, X, Truth Social, Rumble from liability claims over content posted by users. The ability of people to post reels on Facebook or product offerings on eBay would end. The protection Section 230 provides from a swarm of trial lawyers filing grievance lawsuits looking to squeeze dollars out of social media platforms is essential to a functioning interactive internet.

Last weekend, President Biden spoke at the graduation ceremony at Morehouse College, an all-male, historically black college, aggressively attacking his Republican opponents and decrying what he sees as pervasive, overt, and violent ongoing racism in American society. “What,” Biden asked rhetorically, “is democracy if black men are being killed in the street? What is democracy if a trail of broken promises still leave black communities behind? What is democracy if you have to be 10 times better than anyone else to get a fair shot?” Finally, he intoned, “And most of all, what does it mean, as we’ve heard before, to be a black man who loves his country even if it doesn’t love him back in equal measure?”

The speech has been the subject of much discussion, particularly among Republicans, most of whom have bemoaned the President’s purposeful victimization of young black men for political purposes. Rather than tell them the truth, rather than encourage them to be great and to dedicate their lives to fixing the problems that exist in the nation, he encouraged them to wallow in their misery and to blame others for their problems.

Dwyane Wade, former shooting guard for the Miami Heat and NBA Hall of Famer, announced this week that he will launch Translatable, a new online community that supports transgender children.

Wade announced Translatable when receiving the Elevate Prize Catalyst Award from the Elevate Prize Foundation’s Make Good Famous Summit. Wade credited his son Zaya – a biological boy who came out as transgender and began living as a girl at age 12 – for the creation of Translatable when accepting his award.

“The question was presented to her as, ‘If you have one thing that you want to see change in this community, what would it be?'” Wade recalled. “And, for her, it goes right to parents. It goes right to the adults. It goes right to us. It’s not the kids. It’s us. And so she wanted to create a space that felt safe for parents and their kids. That’s what Translatable is, and it’s her baby.”

Money, money!

The various talking heads from The Federal Reserve keep jawboning about whether to raise rates or not. One of the major drivers of inflation is … money. M2 Money growth YoY is growing again (blue line)! And with it, inflation has been rekindled.

Fort Knox, the U.S. official gold storage facility, claims to have a little over 147 million ounces. That amounts, in today’s gold value, to about $300 Billion. Our debt is $35 Trillion officially (likely much more! That means that the U.S. has less than 1% backing of its currency, the dollar!

Therefore, to have full backing, it would require revaluing gold to more than 100 X’s its current value which would bring it up to over $200,000 per ounce! For a little historic perspective, in 1919, the Weimar Republic of Germany had a price of 170 Marks per ounce of gold. As a result of hyper inflation, by 1923, it took 87 trillion marks to buy an ounce of gold.

With that in mind, $200,000 per ounce does not seem unfathomable. If, America were to have 50% backing, which in this writer’s opinion would be minimal to restore some integrity to the dollar, then that would mean more than $100,000 an ounce gold. Silver has a 16 to 1 historical ratio to gold, which means that silver should be more than $6,000 per ounce. Will the U.S. government revalue gold in order to save the dollar and the American economy?

Keep in mind that the “official” U.S. debt does not reflect the whole story. Our “official” debt may be acknowledged at $35 Trillion, but if you add in all of the “off budget” debt such as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare, SNAP, FDIC etc. etc., then the estimated gross debt “unofficially” is around $300 Trillion. That could lead to more than $2,000,000 an ounce gold and more than $120,000 an ounce silver. Also, keep in mind that silver is an industrial metal (which is consumed) used for solar panels, water filtration, and many other applications, and the above ground supply is insufficient at this moment. Just a little food for thought!

A month ago I wrote about the Shieldmaiden, Eva Vlaardingerbroek, a young female Dutch lawyer, who has undertaken the task of encouraging white Europeans to take a stand against the replacement of countries consisting of ethnic nationalities, such as Germans, English, French, Italians, Dutch, Spanish, Hungarians, with towers of babel. In our world today, as in George Orwell’s novel 1984, words are turned upside down and have the opposite of their meaning. Diversity now means “sameness” with no country’s population corresponding to the ethnicity of its name. Destroying the diversity afforded by white ethnic nations is the goal of the EU tyrants and “President” Biden who recently stated, as Tucker Carlson reported, that getting rid of white America was a good thing. https://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2024/04/29/the-shieldmaiden-takes-the-field-against-the-destroyers-of-the-west/

I predicted that the young white woman’s own Dutch government will close her down in some horrific way for “racist” agitation for the continuing existence of an ethnically Dutch nation. It is OK for the Dutch to defend themselves against Russia but not against immigrant-invaders.

It is certain to happen as the Dutch government has already moved against another young blond female Dutch lawyer, Raisa Blommestijn.

Raisa is being prosecuted for “racism” and “inciting hatred” for commenting on a video posted on social media showing a gang of immigrant-invaders brutally beating a young white boy: “How many defenseless white people remain to become victims? Countless probably: the open borders elite is importing these people in droves, with all the consequences that entails.”

Raisa complains that Dutch citizens are being “persecuted for their political opinions,” but what is actually happening is worse. Raisa is being prosecuted for calling public attention to a fact. Raisa was supposed to ignore the fact, because the fact reflects poorly on the open borders policy, and anything that reflects poorly on open borders is racist. In other words, we must deny reality or be prosecuted.
